The Risk Assessment module provides an opportunity for customers to assess the risk presented by the COVID-19 pandemic to their operation, as well as to define the controls in place and actions necessary to properly plan and respond to the identified risk. 

Best Practices

  • Review and Update Existing Assessments - The COVID-19 pandemic has likely introduced new risks to your operations.  Assess the level of risk and insure appropriate controls are in place.

  • Consider Conducting New Assessments by Job Classification or Area - If you’re not already doing so, now may be a good time to assess the risks, including COVID-19 exposure, by job type or by area.

  • Evaluate Hazards Resulting from Introduction of New Controls  - Keep in mind the introduction of new controls related to minimizing the exposure to COVID-19 in your workplace may potentially introduce additional hazards.  For example, cleaning and disinfection practices could potentially introduce new chemical exposure hazards.

ProcessMAP is recommending the addition of new look-up values for the Hazard, Engineering Controls, and Administrative Controls fields, which have been validated with several customers.

Hazard:

  • Disease-Causing Bacteria and Viruses

Engineering Controls:

  • Physical Barriers

  • Air-Handling Systems

  •  Increased Ventilation Rates

  • Decontamination Stations

Administrative Controls:

  • Infectious Disease/ Pandemic Preparedness and Response Plan

  • Monitor Public Health Communications and Recommendations

  • Communications with Employees

  • Job-Specific Education and Training

  • Signage

  • Promote Hand Hygiene

  • Routine Cleaning and Disinfecting

  • Employee Health Monitoring

  • Encourage Sick Employees to Stay Home

  • Limit Access to Workplace (Customers, Public)

  • Area Access Restriction(s)

  • Physical Distancing

  • Telework

  •  Flexible Work Hours

System administrators have the ability to directly add these values within the module setup.

  • Hazard: Module Setup > Risk Assessment > Setup > Hazards

  • Engineering Controls: Module Setup > Risk Assessment > Lookup Values > Engineering Controls

  • Administrative Controls: Module Setup > Risk Assessment > Lookup Values > Administrative/Procedural Controls
